The Jigawa State Government has approved N888 million to cover registration fees for various national exams for candidates in the 2024 academic year.

This funding is allocated to the National Examinations Council, the National Business and Technical Examinations Board, and the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies.

The payment will support 39,709 candidates in Jigawa. The decision was announced by Mr. Sagir Musa, the Commissioner for Information, Youths, Sport, and Culture, in a statement from Dutse.

Musa explained, “The money was approved by the State Executive Council after a meeting on Thursday.”

In addition to the exam funding, the council also approved N921.9 million for additional work on the Auyo-Kafin Hausa road project, which will be handled by ALREN Construction Company Ltd.

There is also an allocation of N16.1 million for consultancy services to Innovative Engineering Consultant.

The council also approved N400 million to support Micro Small and Medium Enterprises in Jigawa. This amount is part of a larger N1 billion approved earlier for the MSMEs project.

Furthermore, the council established a 10-member committee to oversee the implementation of a new minimum wage in the state.

The committee will be chaired by the Jigawa Head of Service and include commissioners from various departments, with the Personal Secretary to Governor Umar Namadi serving as Secretary.
