The only female aspirant contesting for the Ringim and Taura Federal Constituency seat under the All Progressives Congress in Jigawa State, Barrister Firdausi Sunusi Umar, has withdrawn from the race and declared support for the party’s consensus candidate.

Barrister Firdausi was among the eleven aspirants seeking the APC ticket for the constituency.

Her withdrawal comes after nine other aspirants had earlier stepped down in favour of Yusha’u Muhammad, who is widely recognised as the party’s consensus candidate.

She announced her decision during a courtesy visit to Governor Umar Namadi at the Government House in Dutse, a few hours before the party’s primary election.

In a withdrawal letter addressed to the APC National Chairman and received by the party’s State Legal Adviser, Barrister Baffa Alhassan, Firdausi said her decision was made in the interest of unity, stability, and the continued progress of the party.

The former aspirant explained that the move followed consultations with party elders and key stakeholders, as well as compliance with the provisions of Section 87(1) of the Electoral Act 2026.

“I resolved and align myself with the consensus candidate of our great party, APC”

“I, therefore, wholeheartedly endorse Yusha’u Muhammad of our party for Ringim and Taura Federal constituency ticket,” she said.
