Founder of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has claimed that Jesus Christ never visited any poor person during His time on earth, saying this shows that Jesus dislikes poverty.

The pastor made this statement while preaching to his congregation in a video that went viral on Sunday, April 14.

According to him, the Bible shows that Jesus only visited the homes of people who were rich or well-off, which he believes is proof that poverty is not part of God’s plan for His followers.

“Jesus never visited any poor person in his house, check your Bible,” Ibiyeomie said. “That means He hates poverty. He visited Lazarus, they were not poor, they were giving Him food.”

He continued, “He visited a sinner, Zacchaeus, who was rich. Tell me one poor man Jesus entered his house. He hates poverty, that’s the meaning. He hates people who are poor. He died for you not to be poor.”

Pastor Ibiyeomie told his church members that poverty is not just a physical condition but also a spiritual problem that should not remain after one accepts Christ.

“You can come poor but you’re not permitted to remain poor. There’s nothing wrong with you coming to Christ as a poor man, but it’s wrong for you to remain poor. It is wrong,” he said.
