Jealousy behind Manchester United’s criticism – Harry Maguire

Manchester United captain, Harry Maguire has accused the critics of the club of being jealous of the Red’s successful history.

United defeated Everton 3-1 on Saturday to avoid the worst start to a league season since 1989-90, handing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a breather after woeful performances sparked rumours of his sack.

Speaking after the game at Goodison Park, Maguire admitted that it has been difficult for the team due to negative expectations from critics.

“At this club one thing I’ve noticed in my time here – I’ve been here a year and a half – is we are the most talked-about club in the world,” he said.

Maguire is one of the players who has found himself on the end of criticism having so far failed to live up to his status as the world’s most expensive defender following his £85m move from Leicester in the summer of 2019.
United have only won three matches in seven since the beginning of the Premier League season, suffering three home defeats and managed to salvage a point at Old Trafford in the 0-0 draw against Chelsea.
Ole’s men remain without a win at a home win after seven league matches.
