The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has directed all public universities in Nigeria to complete their 2025 admissions before October 31, 2025.

The board also announced that private universities must close admissions by November 30, while all other tertiary institutions, both public and private, have until December 31.

This was disclosed in JAMB’s weekly bulletin released on Monday, which stated that the move follows the decisions reached at the 2025 Policy Meeting chaired by the Minister of Education.

JAMB explained that the deadline is aimed at stabilising the academic calendar and ensuring fairness in admission opportunities.

“Following the directives issued at the 2025 Policy Meeting chaired by the Honourable Minister of Education, all tertiary institutions have been instructed to conclude their admission processes by the end of 2025 according to the schedule below: Public universities: To complete admissions by 31st October, 2025. Private universities: To complete admissions by 30th November, 2025. All other institutions (public and private): complete admissions by 31st December, 2025,” the bulletin read.

The board urged schools to avoid delays in processing admissions. “Even where an institution is not yet ready to commence the new academic session, such an institution should conduct its admission and archive it.”

JAMB further stressed that schools conducting post-UTME screenings must wrap up quickly to fit into the new timetable. “Consequently, institutions conducting post-UTME screenings are expected to conclude those exercises in good time to comply with the 2025 admissions schedule,” it added.
