The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, in partnership with Rite Foods Limited, will honour seven outstanding Nigerian undergraduates with ₦5 million each at its maiden Academic Excellence Recognition Award Ceremony scheduled to hold in Lagos on Tuesday.

According to The Punch, the initiative is designed to recognise students who recorded exceptional performances during the 2025 admission exercise.

JAMB said the beneficiaries emerged through a transparent and merit-based selection process that considered their performances in both the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and their respective post-UTME or institutional screening exercises.

The board explained that six of the awardees represent the country’s six geopolitical zones, while the seventh recipient is the highest-performing admitted candidate living with a disability.

The beneficiaries are from the University of Lagos, the University of Uyo, the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, the University of Maiduguri and the Federal University of Technology, Minna.

JAMB noted that the University of Lagos is the only institution with two award recipients, including the student recognised in the disability category.

The board said the event is expected to attract over 300 guests, including the Minister of Education, JAMB Registrar Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, vice-chancellors, heads of regulatory agencies, principal officers of tertiary institutions, development partners, corporate leaders, students and members of the media.

JAMB added that its partnership with Rite Foods underscores both organisations’ commitment to promoting academic excellence, rewarding merit and encouraging young Nigerians to strive for outstanding academic achievement.
