The Akwa Ibom State Coordinator of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, Mr Oboh Joseph, said his organisation is partnering with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to put an end to operation of illegal Computer Based Test in the state.

Speaking whien the state commandant of NSCDC,Mr Adeyinka Ayinla, paid him a courtesy visit on Monday, the JAMB, Mr Oboh Joseph said the partnership became necessary because some centres were charging above JAMB stipulated registration fee of N4000.

He said the partnership will ensure that candidates were not over charged.

I know you people are equal to the task, since you people are here I don’t have any fear again. All those that are out to cheat candidates is not acceptable by us”

“It is based on this that the JAMB Registrar said we should relate with you people that have the cognate experience to be our partners. We have tried you before, you are tested and trusted” Joseph said.

He said the thirteen CBT centres in the state were grossly inadequate and advised the state government to create more centres to cope with the number of JAMB candidates in the state.

Joseph said it not the best for JAMB candidates in the state to register and asked to write the examination in another state.

The commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Mr Adeyinka Ayinla, said he was worried over the illegal operation of the CTB centres

He said that intelligence reports have revealed that some CBT centres charged candidates more than the N4000 registration fee stipulated by JAMB adding that NSCDC would collaborate with JAMB to ensure that candidates were not unduly shortchanged.

The issue of extortion of JAMB candidates is becoming too rampant in the country. JAMB is collecting N4000 for form but some organisations will charge candidates N6000 this has to stop.

“We must enforced compliance that candidates pay only N4000 as stipulated by JAMB. All illegal CBT centres must stop all this act.

“All these touts, illegal CBT centres in the state must be closed immediately. We don’t want that to continue. We will be going round CBT centres to enforce compliance.

“We have to be on surveillance, you may not identify us because we may not put on this uniform. Everyday, you will be getting reports, I can assure you.

“The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps under the leadership of the Commandant General, we are ready to partner with you to enforce compliance,” Ayinla said.
