The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has introduced a new Candidate Counselling Emergency Support Centre to help candidates who have urgent issues.
This was announced on Friday through a statement posted on JAMB’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle.
The new centre is expected to work alongside the board’s ticketing platform, which JAMB says is still the fastest and best way for candidates to reach them.
“In addition to our usual and preferred ticketing platform for Candidates Support, JAMB has now opened a Candidate Counseling Emergency Support Centre,” the statement read.
Candidates with urgent matters can now speak directly with JAMB officials. The officials listed for contact are Gbenga, Yusuf, Dubem, Tony, Ogbonna, and Emma. The official contact number is 07002200016.
However, JAMB advised that the ticketing system remains the most reliable and preferred option for support.
“Please note that the ticketing platform is still the primary and most effective method for communicating with the Board as it is fast and easy to use and also guarantees a quick reply,” the board said.
The support centre was launched just as over 300,000 candidates were asked to retake the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. These candidates were affected by technical issues and score errors at some Computer-Based Test centres.
The rescheduled exams started on Friday.
Some candidates have expressed concern about possible clashes with the West African Senior School Certificate Examination. So far, WAEC has not announced any changes to its timetable, leaving many students confused.
The National Association of Nigerian Students has praised JAMB for its transparency and has asked that the UTME resits be properly supervised. Education experts are also calling for improvements to the UTME system to avoid such problems in the future.
