JAMB approves HB pencil for 2024 Mock-UTME
The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board has given the green light for candidates to use ordinary HB pencils during the 2024 Mock-UTME, scheduled to take place on Thursday, March 7th, 2024.
The announcement came via a statement by JAMB spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, addressing concerns about the use of pencils in the examination hall.
Benjamin clarified the board’s previous stance on prohibited materials, stating, “It should be noted that the Board had hitherto prohibited the use of pencils and other banned materials in view of the nefarious ends that these materials are put.”
He continued, “The Board, has, however, okayed the use of ordinary HB pencil during the upcoming Mock-UTME and the main scheduled to commence on Friday, 19th April, 2024.”
Emphasizing the importance of this clarification, Dr. Benjamin urged candidates to adhere to the specified guidelines, saying, “Consequently, candidates are urged to note that they are to come with only one pencil to their respective examination centres as specified while ensuring that they are not in possession of any other prohibited items.”
This development aims to provide candidates with a clearer understanding of the allowed writing materials, ensuring a smooth and fair examination process.
As candidates prepare for the upcoming Mock-UTME, they are advised to comply with the guidelines provided by JAMB to avoid any complications during the examination.
