Stand-up comic, Princess, and Nollywood star, Iyabo Ojo on Thursday stormed the State Criminal Investigation Department in Panti with an angry delegation to protest against the planned release of comedian, Olanrewaju Omiyinka aka Baba Ijesha, from police custody.

The celebrities’ action stemmed from the filtered news on social media that the comedian may be released on Friday.

PUNCH reported that a senior officer at the Lagos State Police Command as giving directive for the release of Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, aka Baba Ijesha, from custody.

His proposed release is hinged on the ongoing strike by members of the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria, as courts had ceased sitting and the suspect could not be detained indefinitely without trial.

To justify his bail, the police source claimed that an investigation into the allegation against Omiyinka revealed that he did not defile the victim, adding that when questioned, even the victim confirmed the same.

The report did not go down well with Princess, Ojo and other celebrity activists who gathered at the SCID on Thursday to register their grievances.

We are here at Panti, and he’s still here. They are not bailing Baba Ijesha. We are here and we have sorted it out,” the actress said in a video capturing the protest.

In the video, Princess was captured weeping crying while her professional colleagues and family members persuaded her to stop crying.

“Nigerians are watching,” one of the protesters assured the actress.
