President Bola Tinubu has promised more opportunities in governance and other sectors to Nigerian women while praising their resilience, brilliance, and vital contributions as the world marks this year’s International Women’s Day.
In a statement signed by him on Saturday, Tinubu described women as the “strength” that drives Nigeria’s progress, acknowledging their roles at home, in agriculture, business, and leadership.
“You are the bedrock of our nation, driving progress from our homes to our farms, boardrooms, and communities. Yet, 30 years after the Beijing Declaration, too many still face barriers that limit their potential,” he said.
The president reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to its Renewed Hope agenda, promising to remove obstacles and create more opportunities for women across various sectors.
“Our administration is committed in our Renewed Hope pledge to dismantle obstacles, expand access to finance, and ensure equitable opportunities in governance, agriculture, and every sector,” Tinubu stated.
He encouraged women to remain steadfast and proud, adding, “To our mothers, daughters, sisters—your strength fuels Nigeria’s future. Together, we rise! Happy International Women’s Day.”
The theme for the 2025 International Women’s Day is “Invest in Women, Accelerate Action.”
Tinubu’s message highlights the government’s recognition of women as key contributors to national development and its commitment to promoting gender equality.
