Nigerian music star Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has responded to allegations of neglect made by an elderly man, Fatai Odunsi, who claims to be his father.

Odunsi, in a now-viral video, alleged that he has been battling a stroke since 2022 and that despite repeated attempts to reach Asake, the singer has ignored his calls.

“I am the father to Asake who is singing. The last time I saw him was when this thing happened to me on March 29, 2022.

“He does not pick up my calls anytime I call him. Now I have become tired. I have been looking for this my brother and I recently met with him,” he said.

Odunsi appeared in the video alongside a man identified as Sonibare, who introduced himself as his brother.

According to Sonibare, Odunsi gave him permission to share his story online in hopes of receiving help

“As I said earlier, his name is Fatai Odunsi. He is the one who gave birth to Asake whom every one of us knows as Ololade Mr Money. We need the help of Nigerians because he is now broke.

“I have done the best I could as a person. That is why I am coming to you Nigerians to come to our aid. Whatever amount you can give, even if it is N1 please help him out. I do not want him to die young. We all will not die young too.

“I am not just doing what I am doing. I sought permission from him before doing it. He has been looking for me for a while to put him on social media.

“We needed to come to the public to ask for help because we no longer have the money,” he said.

Reacting to the claims, Asake took to social media on Friday with a cryptic but emotional message, expressing his frustration.

Singing in Yoruba, the “Mr Money” crooner said, “You can’t please everyone, you can’t please the world. But anything you are doing, just do it for God.”

He further lamented his struggles, adding, “My own father wants to cajole me, and I have sent so much money to him. I have struggled for so many years, but they want to make life tire me.”

Asake’s response has since sparked reactions online, with fans and social media users debating the claims and the singer’s cryptic remarks.

Meanwhile, Odunsi’s relationship with Asake remains unverified, as the singer has not directly addressed whether or not the elderly man is truly his father.
