Popular Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Kunle Afod, has broken his silence following reports that his marriage to wife Desola has hit the rocks.
Rumours of the couple’s separation surfaced online over the weekend, with claims that Desola had packed out of the actor’s house and temporarily checked into a hotel .
Speaking amid the viral speculation, the actor shared a post on his Instagram page, noting that he had done his best.
“Wanting the best for myself. God knows that I have really tried. But since we’re still alive, we keep striving,” he wrote .
The post further fuelled the rumours and sparked concerns among his fans. While many took to the comment section to ask about his wife’s whereabouts, some expressed concern about his state of mind .
Hours later, Afod shared an update reassuring his followers. In a video on his Instagram page, he appreciated those who had checked up on him.
“Thank you all for the calls and messages. I really appreciate. All is well,” he captioned the post
The couple, who have been together for over a decade, share four sons: Omiayo, Desire, Imodola, and Yiyenitemi Afod .
The fresh speculation comes months after Desola had addressed online criticism over her association with Fuji singer Malaika. In January, a fan had accused her of embarrassing her husband publicly and advised her to keep her relationship with the singer private .
Responding then, Desola fired back, stating that people should hide relationships only when they are not proud of who they are associated with. She made it clear that she would not be explaining herself or debunking any rumours .
This is not the first time the couple have faced public scrutiny over their marriage. In 2024, Kunle Afod dismissed claims that he impregnated a woman in Mushin, describing the allegations as unfounded. Desola defended her husband at the time, stating she would not leave her marriage regardless of circumstances .
While celebrating Afod’s 50th birthday, Desola had opened up about life as a celebrity wife, admitting that her marriage to the actor had not always been easy. She however maintained that divorce was not an option and vowed to endure whatever came her way .
