The Personal Assistant to the President on New Media, Malam Bashir Ahmad has paid tribute to Abba Kyari, late Chief of Staff to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari.
Bashir who took to his official Twitter account on Saturday expressed shock that it’s already a year since the exit of the late CoS.
“Time flies so fast, actually! It was just like yesterday, but today is exactly a year without Mallam Abba Kyari, the former Chief of Staff to President Buhari.
“He died from COVID-19 complications which he contracted in Germany while on an official assignment. May God accept him,” he tweeted.
Recall that when the news of the former chief of staff was announced on April 17, 2020, Bashir, a media aide to the president, described Kyari as one of the most misunderstood people in the history of Nigeria.
According to him, those who had the opportunity to know him personally can testify how extremely a good person he was.
“A man of honour, will be remembered as someone who sacrificed his life for this country,” he had said.
Born in Borno state, which is now a center of the Boko Haram insurrection, Kyari was more than just a chief of staff to the president. He was the gatekeeper, but also described as the “ear” of the presidency and a confidential advisor. He was present at nearly all of the president’s meetings. Although Kyari avoided limelight like plague which many believed contributed greatly to his increased influence.
He had multiple careers, working in law, banking, journalism, and business.
