Liverpool striker Alexander Isak has returned to full team training this week following a lengthy injury absence, boosting hopes that he could feature in the squad for upcoming key matches.
The 26-year-old Swedish forward had been sidelined since December after suffering a fractured fibula and ankle injury.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who posted on X on Thursday, “Alexander Isak returns in team training with the Liverpool squad this week after a long injury. He’s expected to be called up this weekend and then against PSG.”
Isak has been gradually working his way back to full fitness, and his return to group sessions under manager Arne Slot marks a significant step in his recovery.
While he may be included in the squad for this weekend’s FA Cup clash against Manchester City, Liverpool is expected to take a cautious approach, with Isak likely to start on the bench rather than in the starting eleven.
The forward is, however, expected to be available for Liverpool’s crucial Champions League tie against Paris Saint-Germain, potentially featuring as a substitute as he continues to regain match sharpness.
