Iranian singer, Parastoo Ahmadi, has reportedly been handed legal penalties following an online musical performance that attracted significant public attention.

In 2024, Ahmadi performed the patriotic song Az Khoone Javanane Vatan (From the Blood of the Youth of the Homeland) without wearing a hijab during a concert that was streamed online.

The performance quickly gained traction on social media, prompting authorities to take action.

Ahmadi and several members of the production team were reportedly detained after the video circulated widely online.

A legal case was subsequently opened against the singer in connection with the performance.

According to reports, a court in Iran’s Qom Province later ruled on the matter, sentencing Ahmadi and other members of her team to 74 lashes.

In addition to the corporal punishment, the court reportedly imposed a two-year travel restriction and barred them from participating in artistic activities linked to the production or publication of online content considered to be in violation of public decency regulations.

Reports further stated that Ahmadi appeared on stage wearing a sleeveless black dress and without a head covering, commonly known as a hijab, during the 2024 performance.

The singer was accompanied by a four-member band, and the performance was broadcast live on YouTube.
