Nnamdi Kanu arrest Kenya IPOB Nigeria

The leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra, on Wednesday, alleged that the killings going on in the South-East geo-political zone were aided by the lip service being paid by Governors of the zone, as it concerned the security of lives and property.

According to the proscribed secessionist group, Governors of the zone, had played into the hands of purveyors of power in the, “Caliphate that they no longer see the relevance of life of the governed in the South-East region.”

The group noted that in the zone, it’s leaders do a lot of talking than act on their talks, adding that with the current insecurity situation in the land, it was now apparent that those who the poor masses looked up to, for protection, had abandoned them.

IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, stated this in a statement he personally signed and made available to journalists, on Wednesday.

He was reacting to the heinous killings that took place at Ndiagu Orie village, Umuogodoakpu-Ngbo community, in the Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, on Tuesday, which the group claimed led to the murder of over 20 persons and destruction of property worth billions of naira.

IPOB claimed that the gunmen who attacked the community, from Agila in Ardo community, in Benue State, did that in connivance with the Nigerian Army.

IPOB observed that it was worrisome that some international and local broadcasting media were not doing anything to beam their searchlight on these killings, adding, “That when they will report fast when IPOB acts.”

The statement reads in part:

“10/03/2020, about 14:30hrs at Ndegu Orie, Umuoguduakpu-Ngbo community in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. Armed Fulani terrorists camped at neighbouring Agila community Ardo LGA of Benue state, numbering about thirty-five (35), some dressed in military uniform and supported by the Nigerian Army who were already present in Umuoguduakpu village harassing people. These Fulani terrorists in collaboration with the Nigerian Army invaded the community and killed 20 persons.

“Those who they killed include Fidelia Ali 0meh, 70; Helen Ali, 55; Ogayi Ali, 45; James Eze, 58; Eke Ajah, 85; Idenyi Agbo, 45; Elizabeth Obele, 81; Ogah Oge, 35; and Ogba Eze, 65.

“Also houses and farm produce storage facilities were burnt and destroyed during the attack. These Fulani terrorists and Nigerian soldiers beheaded their Biafran victims in their trademark Jihadi style. They also destroyed Bethel Methodist Church at Umuoguduakpu-Ngbo

“Those that look up to Governors across the South-East for protection can now see for themselves that Fulani Caliphate are the ones in charge of the region. The Governors are pursuing their selfish agenda to the detriment of the poor masses the govern. We blame them for the killings going on in Igbo land. This is wickedness. BBC, CNN, NTA and Channels have maintained their criminal silence over this abominable atrocity. I am certain that when the time comes, they will report IPOB response with glee.”

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Ohaukwu Local Government Area, Ebonyi State, Mr Clement Odah, on Tuesday, said only nine persons were killed, in the attack and invasion in Umuogodoakpu-Ngbo community of the area, adding that the people of Agila were flouting the peace pact reached between the two communities.

Mr Odah also blamed the lingering crisis on the failure of the National Boundary Commission to trace and demarcate the boundary areas, to put a stop to killings and destruction of property in the area.

“I received a call from the Coordinator of Ngbo West Development Centre, Barr. Stephen Igwe Ogenyi, informing me of the brutal attack from Agila people, which left many of the natives, numbering nine dead, with many houses burnt, barns of yams set on fire and people displaced.

We use this opportunity to call on the federal government and specifically, call on the National Boundary Commission to hasten up and do the needful. They cause these killings to go on every now and then.

“Also, a source from the community who spoke to newsmen on condition of anonymity, alleged that the attack was carried out by Agila people at about 2:23 pm.

“Some military personnel had been to the community recently in search of a missing Naval officer who had gone missing over a week ago in the area,” Odah said.
