Insecurity: Wike vows to flush out criminals in Abuja

Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has declared a relentless commitment to eradicating criminal elements causing havoc in the nation’s capital, responding to the surge in banditry and violence in recent months.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony for the construction of Paikon-Kore Road in Gwagwalada, FCT, Wike assured the public that his administration would aggressively confront criminal activities.

He emphasized the determination to make the city secure, stating, “I have assured you before that we are going to take this fight against headlong. Today, you can see that we are not letting them go. I told you all these criminals will run away.”

He further conveyed his intent to intensify efforts against criminals: “We will make sure they don’t sleep again. If they say we will not sleep, they too will not sleep. A child that says the mother will not sleep, will he sleep? So, we are taking the war to head on. Let them wait for us; they will see fire for fire.”

Wike’s strong stance comes in response to the rising security challenges, including killings and kidnappings, faced by some parts of the FCT.

The deteriorating security situation reached a critical point early in the year when criminals abducted five sisters near Abuja, resulting in one tragic death when a ransom deadline passed
