Barcelona forward Luis Suarez will miss out on four to five weeks of action due to a knee injury, according to the Uruguayan Football Association.
The Uruguayan international picked up an injury during the second leg of the Supercopa de Espana against Real Madrid. Barcelona lost 2-0 at the Bernabeu, allowing Real Madrid to cart away the cup with a 5-1 aggregate victory.
Suarez will definitely miss Barca’s league opener against Real Betis and further fixtures against Alaves and Espanyol, with the trip to Getafe on September 17 representing a potential opportunity to return to action.
It was revealed on Barca’s website on Thursday afternoon that medical tests on Suarez showed damage to the back of his right knee.
