Influencer King Mitchy reportedly dies after drinking hypo during live video

The management of popular influencer and philanthropist Mukoro Michelle, known online as King Mitchy, has announced her death following a medical emergency that unfolded during a TikTok livestream .

In a statement released on social media early Saturday, her management said she passed away at Prime Hospital in Abuja despite efforts by medical personnel to save her life .

“We are deeply heartbroken to share that our beloved Michelle has passed on. Despite all efforts from the medical team here in Abuja, we were told her condition was critical, and sadly, she could not be revived,” the statement read .

The management described her as “more than a talent — she was family, full of life, light and dreams” .

According to the statement, her mother, who was in Lagos, fainted after hearing the news and had to be taken to a hospital.

The incident occurred amid intense online pressure following a public feud with activist Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan .

The controversy began after King Mitchy announced she had renovated a public school within six days with financial support from Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu . She challenged VeryDarkMan to provide her with N50 million to renovate four additional schools, sparking heated exchanges on social media .

During the dispute, VeryDarkMan accused her of being used as a “political pawn” and questioned the source of her funding . He later alleged that both Seyi Tinubu and King Mitchy were threatening his life .

In an attempt to defend her reputation, King Mitchy shared screenshots of what she claimed was a WhatsApp conversation with the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, in which the monarch allegedly praised her philanthropic work .

The situation escalated when a video emerged showing King Mitchy consuming what appeared to be a sachet of Hypo during a TikTok livestream, leaving viewers horrified and scrambling to seek help .

Fellow TikToker Hamzat Habeeb Adelaja, known as Peller, publicly criticised her decision to broadcast the act, questioning why she would choose to do so on a live platform .

Social media has been flooded with reactions, with many users expressing shock and grief while others called for empathy and reflection on the toll of cyberbullying .

Authorities in Nigeria have not yet released an official statement regarding the incident. Her management has appealed for prayers and asked the public to respect her family’s privacy during this difficult time .
