The Green Future Party has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission of refusing to register the party despite its claim that it satisfied all stipulated conditions.
The allegation was made on Monday by the Interim National Chairman of the party, Adefolaseye Adebayo, during an interview on Arise Television.
Recall that the GFP was among several political associations that sought registration with INEC during the 2025–2026 registration window, alongside groups such as the All Democratic Alliance (ADA) and the Citizens Democratic Alliance (CDA).
However, by February 2026, the GFP had not received final approval or registration from the electoral body.
Reacting to the development, Adebayo said, “INEC failed to act in line with its own guidelines. We met every requirement for party registration, were verified physically, and were even told by INEC officials that we performed excellently.
“Yet, after the statutory 60 days elapsed, INEC turned around to claim we did not comply with conditions we had already fulfilled.
“I think there’s a political undertone. INEC gave criteria which is just like a list. The conditions were that the people forming the party should be Nigeria citizens as well as the party flag should not be like Nigeria flag and whole lot of others which we met.”
