The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced Professor Chukwuma Soludo, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, as the winner of the Anambra State governorship election.
According to the official figures released by the commission, a total of 584,054 votes were recorded across the state.
Soludo emerged victorious with 422,664 votes, maintaining a wide lead over his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 99,445 votes. Other parties recorded much lower figures, with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) securing 8,208 votes and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) managing 1,401 votes.
The declaration was made by the State Collation Officer and Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof. Edogah Omoregie, at INEC’s state headquarters in Awka on Sunday after the collation of results from all local government areas.
