The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced the start of the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards in the Federal Capital Territory ahead of the February 21 Area Council elections.

INEC made this known in a statement posted on its official X handle on Tuesday, urging eligible voters in the FCT to seize the opportunity to collect their PVCs.

According to the commission, the exercise will run from January 22 to January 26 at voters’ respective Registration Areas or wards across the FCT, between 9 am and 3 pm daily.

INEC explained that voters who are unable to collect their cards at the ward level within the period will still have another opportunity to do so at INEC Area Council offices after January 26.

“Dear FCT resident, as we prepare for the February 21 Area Council Election, INEC is bringing your PVC closer to you. Don’t miss the chance to collect your PVC in the FCT,” the commission said.

It added, “From Jan 22–26, 9 am–3 pm daily, visit your Registration Area (Ward) to collect your Permanent Voter Card (PVC). After the 26th, collection continues at INEC Area Council Offices.”

The electoral body also encouraged residents to confirm their collection centres using its online locator.

The February 21 Area Council election, scheduled to begin at 8:30 am, will feature 17 political parties contesting seats across the FCT’s 62 wards.
