INCREASE IN ENROLLMENT! Lagos to recruit 1,200 teachers for secondary schools

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has approved the recruitment of additional 1200 teachers for Junior and Senior Secondary schools in the State.

Wuzup Naija had reported that Ambode at that the last quarterly Town Hall meeting at Ibeju Lekki ordered the recruitment of 1,000 teachers fro primary schools in the state.

However, the Deputy Governor of the State, Mrs. Idiat Adebule, on Friday said Ambode had approved the recruitment of additional 1,200 teachers, bringing the total to 2,200.

Adebule, who superintends over the Ministry of Education, said guidelines for the application would be released soon in accordance with the Civil Service Rules.

She said the recruitment would aid teaching in the public schools, adding that enrollment in the state’s public schools has been increasing in the last three years.

Adebule hinged the increase on the improved infrastructure and welfare of teaching and non-teaching staff.

She said the improved facilities and staff motivation was evident in the high performance rate of the students of the State in local and international competitions.
