Embattled former candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Imo North Senatorial zone, Frank Ibezim, has kicked against the ruling of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday.

The presiding judge, Justice Taiwo Taiwo, had in a judgment held that Chief Ifeanyi Ararume remained the authentic candidate of the party and should be declared winner of the Imo North Senatorial District by-election.

The judge dismissed the preliminary objection filed by the APC and Ibezim challenging the jurisdiction of the court to entertain Ararume’s suit.

Following the verdict, an angry Ibezim accused the judge of alleged ‘judicial rascality.’

According to The Nation, Ibezim, who spoke to journalists via a telephone shortly after Taiwo delivered a judgment announcing Ifeanyi Ararume as the APC authentic candidate for the disputed election, said that the verdict was “a shame on our democracy.”

In a related development, an ex governor of Imo State and member representing Imo West Senatorial District, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has congratulated Senator Ifeanyi Ararume on his affirmation as the APC authentic candidate.

In a statement issued by his media adviser, Sam Onwuemeodo, Okorocha said with Senator Ararume in the Senate, lmo state would have two senators of APC extraction in the Red Chambers of the National Assembly, out of the three from the state, adding that that would be a very wonderful development.

“Senator Ararume having served in the Senate for two terms before now, would now be expected to bring his wealth of experience to bear and for the good of the people of Imo North Senatorial District in particular, Imo people and Nigerians in general,” he said.

This is just as he urged Ararume to carry everybody in his Senatorial District along, not minding the political parties or political camps they all belong.
