The Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has officially sworn in Local Government Area chairmen across all 27 councils, following their emergence in the recently concluded party congress.
The inauguration took place at the party’s State Secretariat in Owerri and was led by the State Chairman, Austin Onyedebelu, in the presence of the State Secretary, Onyekachi Ibezim, and other members of the State Working Committee.
While addressing the newly inaugurated officials, Onyedebelu stressed the need for unity, discipline, and commitment within the party structure.
He urged the chairmen to regard their positions not as symbols of power but as responsibilities to serve, encouraging them to promote inclusiveness and engage all stakeholders within their respective LGAs.
He further noted that the party’s strength is rooted in its grassroots cohesion, calling on the new executives to collaborate effectively in expanding the party’s reach and ensuring proper coordination at ward and community levels.
Onyedebelu underscored the importance of adhering strictly to the party’s constitution, describing it as the foundation guiding all its activities. He also reminded the chairmen of the need to remain committed to the party’s ideals, principles, and leadership.
In addition, the chairman assigned them the task of supervising the inauguration of LGA executives in their domains, emphasizing that the process must reflect fairness, inclusiveness, and the collective interest of the party.
Highlighting party leadership in the state, Onyedebelu pointed to Governor Hope Uzodinma as the party’s leader in Imo, stating that continued support for his administration is crucial to sustaining the party’s stability and growth.
Meanwhile, two of the newly inaugurated LGA chairmen, speaking on behalf of their colleagues, expressed gratitude to the party leadership for the trust placed in them. They pledged their unwavering loyalty to the party and its constitution, assuring that they would work diligently to foster unity and strengthen the APC at the grassroots level.
