The Nigeria Immigration Service has arrested a native doctor from Enugu State, Obi Levi Obieze, also known as Levi Obu Onyeka, who is wanted by the police for kidnapping and ritual killing.
Obieze was caught while trying to escape the country on a motorcycle through the Badagry-Seme border in Lagos State.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Service Public Relations Officer, ACI Akinsola Akinlabi, said the Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, confirmed the arrest.
“According to reports, Obi Levi Obieze, a resident of Umuojor village in Isiagu community, Enugu State, and a known native doctor, is alleged to have been involved in the kidnapping of a 13-year-old girl on 27th May, 2025,” the statement read.
The young girl was reportedly walking with her father to the farm when a group of three men abducted her. She was later rescued by police officers from a shrine allegedly linked to Obieze.
Acting on credible information, officers of the Lagos State Border Patrol Command stopped Obieze at the Gbaji checkpoint along Badagry-Seme Road. He was trying to leave Nigeria when he was caught.
Immigration officers confirmed his identity using a National Identity Management Commission slip found on him.
“During initial questioning, he admitted to the alleged crimes,” Akinlabi said.
The Nigeria Immigration Service is now working with the Nigeria Police to hand over the suspect for further investigation and legal action.
The agency also promised to continue protecting Nigeria’s borders and stopping criminals from escaping justice.
