Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has apologized for slapping a pastor at his bar.

The controversial artist made the apology in a video shared online, asking pastors across the country to forgive him for his actions.

In the video, Portable, visibly emotional and surrounded by people at his bar, pleaded for understanding from religious leaders. “I’m human, I’m not perfect,” he said tearfully, asking the pastors to pardon him for the incident.

The apology comes after a viral video showed Portable confronting and slapping a pastor who had come to preach at his bar.

The singer accused the pastor of driving away customers and disturbing the atmosphere, using harsh language during the confrontation.

Portable explained that he didn’t know the pastor was a genuine man of God. He said he reacted the way he did because of a previous incident where someone dressed like a pastor attacked his older sister. “I thought he was there to cause harm,” Portable shared in the video, clarifying why he lashed out.

This public apology followed calls from several religious leaders for Portable to make amends, with gospel singer Testimony Jaga giving him a three-day ultimatum to apologize.

The clergyman Portable had attacked was defended by many, leading to growing pressure for the singer to take responsibility for his actions.
