Popular Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as K1 De Ultimate, has openly declared that he is a proud member of the Celestial Church of Christ.
He also revealed that he built a parish for the church.
K1 made this known during a pre-recorded interview where he shared his spiritual journey. Though he is widely known as a Muslim, the veteran musician said he explored different religions in his search for a deeper relationship with God.
“I am a bonafide member of the Celestial Church. A proud one. In fact, I built a church,” he said. “I sought different religions while trying to know God. I explored both Islam and Christianity, and I have no regrets.”
The Celestial Church of Christ, founded by Samuel Oshoffa, is known for its white garments and the practice of removing shoes during worship.
K1’s declaration comes months after a controversy surrounding his use of the word “Ganusi,” which many interpreted as a jab at some Islamic clerics. The word went viral during preparations for his late mother’s funeral.
In January, K1 was criticised by several Muslim clerics in the South West and North Central zones for the statement. Despite the backlash, he stood his ground.
“I said nothing wrong and I stand by it,” he stated in his response to the uproar.
