Reality TV personality, Uriel Oputa, has opened up about her evolving perspective on marriage, revealing that personal experiences in recent years have made her more cautious about settling down.
In a candid Instagram post, Oputa admitted that several years ago, she would have readily embraced the idea of marriage.
However, interactions with certain men have caused her to reconsider.
“If you had asked me 5 years ago, even 3 or 4 years ago, ‘Do you want to get married?’ I’d have said absolutely, 100% yes. Ask me now? I’d have to think twice,” she wrote.
According to her, some of the men she has encountered displayed troubling behaviors, which she described as “inconsistent, egotistical, narcissistic, and manipulative.” These experiences, she said, contributed to her changed mindset.
Oputa also light-heartedly mentioned her concern over the stress that can come with marriage, joking about the toll it could take on her health. “And honestly, I’m not sure I want to spend the rest of my life on high blood pressure medication,” she stated.
Despite her reservations, the former Big Brother Naija star expressed optimism about her future, saying she still believes in love and has faith that her own marriage journey will be unique. “But hey, in God we trust. Mine will be different,” she added.
