Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has shared his thoughts on Jurgen Klopp’s forthcoming departure from Liverpool at the end of the season.
Guardiola expressed a mix of surprise and contentment, stating that he will “sleep a little bit easier” when Klopp exits Liverpool. He added that he is pleased but somewhat taken aback by the news. Additionally, Guardiola foresees Klopp returning to management sooner rather than later.
Following Manchester City’s 2-0 victory over Tottenham in the FA Cup, Guardiola conveyed his sentiments to ITV Sports. He remarked, “I am a little bit surprised. He is an incredible manager. I don’t know him closely but he is an incredible person as well. I have a feeling that at the end of the season when he is leaving, part of us at Man City is leaving too.”
Recognizing Liverpool as a formidable adversary in recent years, Guardiola acknowledged Klopp’s pivotal role in their rivalry.
He admitted, “Liverpool has been our biggest rival in recent years. Personally, he at Dortmund was also my biggest rival. So he will be missed. Personally, I will miss him.”
While Guardiola anticipates a slight relief without Klopp as Liverpool’s manager, he wished Klopp all the best for the future. Guardiola also expressed his belief that Klopp will inevitably return to the managerial arena.
