The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, has assured personnel that the Army under his watch will prioritize the welfare of troops.

This includes providing befitting accommodation and improving the service delivery of Army hospitals across the country.

Lagbaja made the promise during the Passing Out Parade of 6,000 Recruits of the 85 Regular Recruit Intake on Saturday.

In a statement by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the COAS reaffirms his pledge to improve the welfare of personnel in the Nigerian Army.

He reaffirmed that the Nigerian Army would continue to give troops’ training and welfare the priority it deserves, adding that currently emphasis was on the renovation of accommodation facilities that are in deplorable states, while efforts are also being made to provide additional ones.

“He said soldiers deserve the best accommodation the service can provide when they are not on the frontline as incentives for their sacrifices.

“He also maintained that under his stewardship, the Nigerian Army is improving its medical facilities to make them more suitable to handle all battle casualties arising from operational engagements,” the statement partly read.
