Nigeria international, Kelechi Iheanacho, was on the scoresheet again despite Leicester City’s 4-2 defeat to relegation-threatened Newcastle United.

Iheanacho, who was recently nominated for the Player of the Month for April, bagged a late goal for the Foxes to take his tally to 11 goals in 12 matches.

Leicester suffered the shocking defeat to Steve Bruce’s side who opened scoring through Joe Willock(22′).

Newcastle added a second goal 12 minutes later through Paul Dummett (34′).

However, it was Callum Wilson who stole the show with a brace (64′, 73′) before Leicester reduced the deficit by one through Marc Albrighton (80′).

With three minutes to the final whistle, Iheanacho halved the deficit by pulling one back with a superb low strike as Newcastle won the game 4-2.

According to ESPN, no Premier League player has scored more goals since the start of March than the Super Eagles forward (10).

Meanwhile, OptaJoe added that the only player to score more goals over this period in Europe’s top five leagues is fellow Nigerian Simy Nwankwo (12 in Serie A).

During the post-match interview, Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers said: “It’s very easy to analyse as we made so many mistakes. You can’t afford to do that. The goals we conceded were uncharacteristic and it’s a time of the season where you’ve got to be super-concentrated if you are to achieve what you want. We lacked concentration and if you do that against good teams, with good players, they’ll punish you.

“I’m proud of the players because they kept going. Sometimes, teams can start throwing their arms about and blaming each other but we kept going until the end. Too many mistakes ultimately cost us. You can get that with young players, and you can see from the first goal that it was a poor mistake.

“There were other mistakes, but that’s football. With young players, that will happen. I’ve got a very honest group of players who are very disappointed but we’ll have to regroup and go again on Tuesday.”

Leicester now face Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham in their final three league games as well as their FA Cup final against Chelsea next weekend.
