The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate redeployment of Commissioners of Police in the Federal Capital Territory, Rivers State, and Delta State.

This decision aims to boost the effectiveness of the police and improve security across these regions.

The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, announced that CP Olatunji Disu will now lead the FCT Command, taking over from CP Peter Opara, who will assume command of Delta State. Additionally, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi will now head the Rivers State Command.

IGP Egbetokun also made appointments in four other states, including Abia, Lagos, Ebonyi, and Akwa-Ibom. The new commissioners are:

– Abia State: CP Danladi Nda
– Lagos State: CP Olanrewaju Ishola Olawale
– Ebonyi State: CP Anthonia Adaku Uche-Anya
– Akwa-Ibom State: CP Festus Eribo

“These deployments reflect the IGP’s mission to reposition the Police Force and maximize human resources,” said Adejobi.

The Inspector-General urged the new police commissioners to be diligent in their duties and develop new strategies to tackle security challenges in their states. He also encouraged them to support ongoing police reforms, which he believes are crucial for the growth of the Nigeria Police Force and the country.

This move follows previous redeployments made during the 2023 election period, aimed at strengthening the police force for better public safety.
