Reports suggesting that Super Eagles defender Igoh Ogbu is set to join German club Hamburger SV on loan from Slavia Prague have been debunked as false.
Initial claims indicated that both clubs were in advanced discussions for a loan move with an option to buy the 25-year-old centre-back.
However, investigations by Soccernet have confirmed that no such negotiations are taking place between the two sides.
Ogbu recently extended his contract with Slavia Prague in May, committing to the Czech champions until December 2027.
The long-term deal reflects his growing importance to the squad, following a string of solid performances since his arrival.
The defender, who has three caps for the Nigerian national team, joined Slavia Prague from Norwegian side Lillestrøm SK in January 2023. Since then, he has become a crucial part of the club’s defence.
Sources close to the player also dismissed speculation of a possible move to the Bundesliga, reaffirming that Ogbu is focused on Slavia’s ambitions both domestically and in Europe—particularly their UEFA Champions League campaign, where they are set to face top clubs such as Arsenal, Inter Milan, and Barcelona.
His recent contract renewal is said to have been motivated by his strong connection to the club, further casting doubt on any potential move to Hamburg.
Following these developments, Ogbu remains fully committed to Slavia Prague, with no indications of a transfer to Germany.
