A counsel of the embattled Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho, has claimed that his client suffered “severe injuries” when operatives of the Department of State Services raided his residence in Soka, Ibadan, Oyo State capital.

WuzupNigeria reported that two of Igboho’s assailants were killed during the raid on Thursday, July 1, 2021, before he was declared wanted by the secret police.

Igboho who is facing trial in the Benin Republic was said to have sustained a rib injury while trying to escape the DSS during the gunbattle in his home that led to the arrest of 13 of his associates, who are currently undergoing trial.

The PUNCH, quoting his Benin-based legal counsel, Ibrahim Salami, in an interview on Tuesday, reported that the Yoruba Nation agitator is still nursing some of the wounds.

According to the lawyer, the Yoruba rights activist should be granted bail to treat himself.

Salami stated, “I urge his family and supporters to be patient and prayerful. They should support him with prayers. When they attacked his house in Nigeria, he jumped from the top of a building. His ribs were hurt. He was severely injured.

“In fact, he could not stand before the judge. He sat to address the judge. He needs freedom for medical attention. Those of us that are his lawyers are making a stringent effort.”
