Popular singer Davido has opened up about how his family stood by him during the most painful period of his life, especially after the loss of his son, Ifeanyi, in 2022.

Speaking on The Breakfast Club show on April 4, 2025, the Afrobeats star said his father, wife, and extended family were his main source of strength during his darkest days.

“And when my world went dark, they were the only ones there. Obviously, my wife and her family were there, but the people that were really there were my family. Kudos to my father—he left everything to comfort me.”

Davido said that his father’s strong Christian values helped guide him through grief and pain. He added that the love and sympathy from fans and celebrities across the world also helped him during that period.

This touching moment came as Davido continues to promote his upcoming fifth studio album, 5ive, which is set for release on April 18, 2025.

The album includes collaborations with YG Marley, Odumodublvck, and Chike. It has already created a buzz with pre-release singles like “Awuke” and “Funds”.
