IBEDC raises concern over consumers debt in Ogun

The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company has raised concerns over the increasing debt owed by residential consumers in Ogun State.

The IBEDC Chief Executive Officer, Engr Kingsley Achife, who spoke through lead media relations officer, IBEDC Ibadan, Mrs Busolami Tunwase on Monday, called on the public not to shield workers of the company indulging in unwholesome practices. 

He said at least 20 of such erring officials have been sent packing in the last five months.

According to him, residential consumers in the state owed a whopping over N67 billion “which are now becoming a source of concern to the company.”

Time is now for the consumers to begin to pay their debts, to avoid mass disconnection.” 

The company warned that mass disconnection of residential areas is imminent if people fail to pay their debts.

IBEDC also urged the public to report any IBEDC worker found indulging in unwholesome practices. 

The company said it is committed to providing quality service to its customers and will not tolerate any act of misconduct by its staff.
