Nigerian rapper and singer, Remilekun Khalid Safaru, better known as Reminisce, recently opened up about how he was raised to prioritize the care of women in his family.
During an interview on the popular podcast “I Said What I Said,” hosted by FK and Jola, the artist shared that taking responsibility for women is deeply ingrained in his family’s values.
Reminisce explained, “The way I run my home, for example, is if my wife needs money to buy something, I’ll give it to her. Even if she blows it, I gave the money. That’s how I was raised, and that’s how my father and his father before him lived their lives.”
For him, it’s not just about financial support but a broader responsibility. “I was raised to take care of women—my wife, my sisters. It’s something I believe in deeply,” he said.
He contrasted his approach with modern, more ‘woke’ concepts of marriage, where couples split everything 50/50. “If that’s your choice, that’s fine. But for me, I believe it’s my duty to care for my wife, and all of these things are about personal choices.”
Reminisce’s perspective highlights a blend of tradition and personal values, showing that his approach is not dictated by societal expectations but by family history and a deep sense of responsibility toward the women in his life.
