An Ibom Air passenger, Comfort Emmanson, has shared that she is still in pain following her release from detention after a dispute with the airline.

In a post on Instagram on Wednesday, Emmanson, known online as #soft_commy, thanked her supporters for standing by her, but said she needed time to rest and get medical attention before speaking in detail about the incident.

“Thank you so much for the prayers, love and support. I’ve been released from the prison, but I’m still in pains due to how I was treated,” she wrote. “I just need some rest and medical treatment before I give out my own version of the event. Thank you so much, my lovely friends and supporters. I really appreciate y’all from the bottom of my heart. God bless you all. Thank you, my great God!!!”

Her comments come days after a reported altercation with Ibom Air staff on August 10, which led to her arrest. While the full details of the dispute are still unclear, the Federal Government on Wednesday dropped its criminal case against her.

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, said the decision followed talks with stakeholders, appeals from concerned Nigerians, and the remorse shown by those involved.

“When the Police took her statement in the presence of her lawyer, she exhibited great remorse for her conduct,” Keyamo said, adding that Ibom Air had agreed to withdraw its complaint.

Ibom Air had earlier confirmed a customer service incident had occurred and said it was being handled internally.

Emmanson’s latest post has attracted thousands of reactions, with supporters urging an investigation into her treatment in custody.
