A 26-year-old man has confessed to slitting his four-year-old daughter’s throat as a sacrifice to Allah during Ramadan in Jodhpur, India.
The accused, Nawab Ali Qureshi, admitted his crime during interrogation, claiming that he wanted to please Allah.
According to reports, Qureshi, who runs a meat shop took four-year-old Rizwana to the market, bought her lots of goodies, and told her he loved her very much.
At night, while the family slept on the terrace, he took Rizwana to a room on the ground floor, recited holy verses and slit her throat then he went back to sleep.
According to the Times of India, Qureshi had previously denied killing his daughter and accused a family cat of being responsible but his wife filed a murder complaint against an unidentified “person”.
But he reportedly admitted to the murder on Friday, claiming he had been possessed by a devil and “had to offer my most prized possession to Allah”.
After a preliminary investigation, the police found out that the house was latched from inside and there were no signs of an intruder entering it.
Forensic experts and a dog squad were also summoned to examine the spot and Qureshi was summoned for questioning.
