Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, has recounted her powerful journey from hawking olive oil at church deliverance services to becoming a continental football champion, urging Nigerians never to give up on their dreams.
Speaking on Saturday during the August edition of the Power Must Change Hands programme at the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries’ Prayer City in Ogun State, the Atletico Madrid forward reflected on her humble beginnings and the role of faith, perseverance, and hard work in shaping her path.
“I was once one of those young girls out there hawking Olive oil, Kunu and Zobo drinks in most of the deliverance programmes, but today, I give glory to God,” she told the congregation.
Ajibade, who recently led Nigeria to its record 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title in Morocco, spoke about how her spiritual discipline kept her grounded through challenges.
“Whenever things are tough at my club or with the national team, I pray. I do my part through hard work but never forget to seek God’s help,” she said.
Despite scoring only once in the tournament, Ajibade emerged as the Player of the Tournament and won three Woman of the Match awards — a testament to her leadership and impact on the pitch.
Her story, rooted in resilience and faith, offered encouragement to others facing difficult circumstances. “Please, don’t give up, keep praying, keep fasting, keep working and keep believing,” she urged.
From selling olive oil during church programmes to captaining a national team to glory, Ajibade’s story stands as a powerful example of transformation and triumph through faith, focus, and persistence.
