Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage has made a shocking revelation about her private life, saying she has not had sex in the past three years.
The singer disclosed this while promoting her new album, This One Is Personal, during an interview on The Breakfast Club in the United States.
When asked if she believed she would fall in love romantically again, Tiwa was uncertain.
“I love my son, I love my team, I love my friends. I’ve been married before. I’m not young. I’m good…, I’ve gone like maybe three years without. I don’t know, it’s not something I’m really crazy about. I don’t have any (s*x) toys too, none of that,” she said.
Tiwa explained that intimacy, for her, only comes when she is deeply in love. “I really do have to be in love to think about it,” she added.
The singer also spoke about past trauma from relationships, saying she is still healing and afraid of projecting her pain onto someone new.
“I know that place was dark. I’m scared that someone’s going to come, maybe even the right person, and I’m just going to project my trauma on them,” she admitted.
She continued, “That’s because I’m going to give everything. I honestly will give everything. Can I really do that again? Unless God opens up the heavens and says, ‘This is my child, this is who you’re supposed to be with,’ I can’t see myself opening up like that again.”
Tiwa also confirmed that she goes for therapy whenever she feels the need. “If I feel like, okay, I need to just talk to someone about something, yeah, then I still do. I think we don’t talk about it a lot in my culture,” she said.
