Nigerian music star Tiwa Savage has said that at 44, she has yet to experience what she considers true love.
According to her, the only genuine love she has felt is from her son, Jamil. She explained that when she reflects on her past relationships, she realises they were based on infatuation rather than real love.
“The only true love I’ve experienced is from my son. Anytime I think about my past relationships, I tell myself, that wasn’t love. I was just carried away. At that point, I thought it was love, but it wasn’t. Even during my marriage, I don’t think I felt true love,” she said during a chat with Zeze Mills.
Savage admitted she now believes love might not be meant for her, saying her repeated attempts to find it have been unsuccessful.
“Maybe love isn’t for me. I’ve tried so many times, but it hasn’t worked out. Maybe it’s just not for me in this lifetime,” she added.
Tiwa Savage married her former manager, Tunji Balogun, popularly known as Teebillz, in 2013. Their marriage ended in 2018, and they have a son together.
