Senior Pastor and founder of House on The Rock Church, Pastor Paul Adefarasin, has publicly addressed the controversy surrounding a viral video that allegedly shows him brandishing a firearm during an encounter with a content creator.
The video, which surfaced on social media days ago, sparked intense debate. While some viewers speculated that the pastor was displaying a weapon, others argued it was a harmless object.
In response to the public speculation, Pastor Adefarasin had initially pledged to provide further clarification during his Sunday service—and he kept that promise.
Addressing his congregation, Adefarasin firmly denied the claims, stating that he does not possess a firearm license and did not threaten anyone with a weapon. According to him, the situation was a deliberate attempt at clickbait by a content creator seeking to monetize online outrage.
He went on to explain that the incident may not have even been targeted at him specifically, suggesting the individual involved was simply exploiting the moment for online traction. Describing the person filming as “the aggressive man,” Adefarasin recounted how closely the individual approached him during the encounter.
He stressed that House on The Rock adheres to a strict policy against engaging with hate speech and public defamation, citing Romans 12:19: “Vengeance is mine, says the Lord.” He also disclosed that he received an overwhelming number of phone calls from concerned well-wishers following the video’s circulation.
The clergyman expressed shock at the public’s interpretation of the footage and reiterated his commitment to transparency and integrity in leadership. His remarks came after criticism from various quarters, including Nigerian broadcaster and singer N6, who commented on the viral clip.
Pastor Adefarasin’s response appears aimed at quelling the growing speculation and restoring confidence among his followers in the wake of the incident.
