Paris Saint-Germain winger, Angel Di Maria, has dragged Manchester United’s iconic jersey No. 7 in the mud by saying he doesn’t give a f*** about it.
Old wounds apparently haven’t healed for the Argentine star six years after his one-season nightmare at the Theatre of Dreams.
Di Maria who switched from Real Madrid to United under then-manager, Louis van Gaal, in 2014 and was handed the iconic jersey NO. 7 but the 33-year-old failed to live up to the expectations of as he left the club in 2015.
His departure marked his failure to replicate the achievements of Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham and George Best with the famous squad number.
The Argentine who was reduced to just 32 appearances during his brief spell at the club also blamed the Dutch national team coach for his failed spell in the Premier League.
Speaking in a recent interview, Di Maria claimed he was never fazed by the club’s legacy of the shirt.
“I didn’t give a f**k about the Manchester United No. 7,” Di Maria told TyC Sports. “At first they talked to me a lot about it, it was just a shirt.
“My problem at Manchester was the coach. Van Gaal was the worst of my career. I would score, assist, and the next day he would show me my misplaced passes. He displaced me from one day to the other, he didn’t like players being more than him.”
