A homeless young man, identified as Godwin, has said he came to Lagos in search of greener pastures but ended up living under a bridge.

In a documentary video by BBC Africa, Godwin narrated the challenges of hustling in Lagos with the heavy population.

The 23-year-old said although his spirit dislikes living under the bridge he has no option.

Godwin said the first huge money he saved up N40,000-N50,000, could not afford him a house because of the high cost of living.

He said while he was an undergraduate he was told that Lagos is a land filled with milk, honey and opportunities but sadly coming to Lagos it has been tough getting a lucrative job to meet his basic needs.

In a tell it all, Godwin and other homeless Nigerians narrated their sad stories and what they hope to achieve in the future.

Godwin on his path said he is a member of Winners Chapel and loves reading his bible.

Lagos, one of the largest commercial city in Nigeria is popular for housing people who came in search of a better life.

Sadly many end up on the streets thanks to the high cost of living.

Amnesty International suggests that more than 30,000 have been forcibly evicted from settlements, and a further 300,000 are under threat.

Meanwhile, many flee to Lagos after being displaced by Boko Haram in the north-east of the country.
