The phrase “I am a Chosen” has gone viral in Nigeria, following heated social media discussions about the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries.

This trend started with video clips of testimonies shared by members of events attributed to divine intervention.

In one testimony a woman claimed to have been attacked by four armed robbers. She alleged that she miraculously gained control of their weapons, which she initially referred to as “AK-27,” later corrected by the pastor to “AK-47.”

One church member recounted a harrowing experience where he was kidnapped. He claimed that despite attempts by his captors to harm him with a machete and gunfire, he remained unharmed, asserting that the machete “bounced off” his skin and that a bullet shot at him did not penetrate

Another dramatic testimony involved a man who alleged that he was rescued from kidnappers by a lion. He described being lifted and carried to safety by the animal, which then instructed him to leave.

He recounted, “Before you know it something entered my back, lifted me up, it carried me like airplane,.. when it dropped me, I decided to look at something that carried me, when I looked it, was lion, where the lion drop me the place was very narrow, very tight, he now raise one of his hand up, he say I should go like this and when I go he say bye-bye”

Many online users have since jumped in on the conversation, making light of the situation by creating funny videos, memes, and anecdotes using the phrase “I am a Chosen.”

For instance, some users jokingly referenced their own experiences while declaring “I am a Chosen,” linking it to everyday situations in a lighthearted manner

One user, @timi_of_lagos, commented, “Trending videos of ‘I am a Chosen’ are so hilarious.”

Similarly, @el_hapter playfully added, “Sporty, who are you??? I am a Chosen.”

Another user, @MasterAdetoye, shared a funny experience, saying, “It is the schools resumption period. I only shouted, ‘I am a chosen’ three times. My kids’ school account was credited with their school fees and other bills. Try it this morning. I did, and I was called for receipt acknowledgement. Thank you, Jesus.”

Despite the backlash, members of the Lord’s Chosen Church continue to defend their testimonies.

One viral video even showed a female member in an apron refusing a content creator’s challenge to say “I love you,” repeatedly stating, “I am a Chosen.” This clip further fueled the trend, with many online users poking fun at the interaction.

@Letter_to_Jack humorously tweeted, “Me and my fellow Chosen going to the filling station in Abeokuta to buy Petrol at N132/L with our Chosen jacket and sticker. ‘Hello, I am a Chosen, where is the God of my pastor power? Fuel attendant, who are you? You can’t stop me.'”

While the phrase continues to make rounds online, VDM has threatened legal action against the church for what he believes are exaggerated and misleading stories, and he has urged CAN to step in for a thorough investigation.

For now, the “I am a Chosen” slogan has become a viral sensation, with both critics and supporters of the church adding fuel to the ongoing debate.
