A man named Nwana has reportedly set his wife, Chioma Nwana, on fire following an argument over suspected infidelity.

The incident happened on Tuesday evening in Eziezekwe village, Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area, Anambra State.

Chioma, who suffered severe burns, was rushed to a nearby hospital but died on Wednesday morning from her injuries.

According to community sources, the altercation began when Nwana accused Chioma of infidelity after she returned home from an alleged outing with another man. The argument turned violent, and Nwana poured petrol on her and set her on fire.

A resident, speaking anonymously, said, “The woman came back home, and her husband accused her of cheating. During the fight, he poured petrol on her and lit her on fire. She was taken to the hospital but unfortunately died this morning.”

The couple, who had six children, were living together in the village before the tragic event.

After committing the act, Nwana reportedly went to the Abagana Divisional Police Station and confessed to the crime.

The Police Public Relations Officer for the Anambra State Command, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident.

He said, “The suspect is in police custody. Unfortunately, the victim passed away this morning. The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Itam, has ordered the transfer of the case to the Homicide Unit for further investigation.”
