Former Your View host and Managing Director of TVC Entertainment, Morayo Afolabi-Brown, has opened up about a turbulent chapter in her career at the television station, revealing that she was once dismissed due to internal politics but later reinstated following the intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking in an interview on the With Chude podcast, Afolabi-Brown reflected on her decade-long journey with TVC, which she recently exited. She disclosed that despite her public success, her early years at the station were marked by behind-the-scenes challenges, including losing her job.

“Three years after working in TVC, internal politics got me fired,” she said.

She noted that at the time of her dismissal, Tinubu—then the proprietor of TVC—was unaware she was employed at the station. However, following her exit, some individuals familiar with her background informed Tinubu that she was the daughter of the late renowned lawyer, Alao Aka-Basorun.

According to her, this prompted Tinubu to invite her for a personal meeting to understand the situation.

“He called me to his office and asked what had happened? After a lot of back and forth, I got my job back, although I was demoted,” she recalled.

The broadcaster, who has also recently spoken publicly about her struggles with depression, used the platform to share untold stories from her time at the station, adding depth to the public’s understanding of her professional journey.

Her revelations come shortly after TVC officially announced her departure, ending a significant chapter in Nigerian broadcast media.
